Job Search Web Site Visitors Speak Out — Who We Are and What We Want

A new study profiles visitors to the top-20 Job Search web sites and is designed to give Job Search web site marketers and developers the information they need to create the next generation Job Search web site.

Mountain View, CA —

A new study by MarketProfiles.net will allow top Job Search web site marketers and developers to contrast their visitors’ demographics, Internet usage habits, and ratings versus those of the other top Job Search web sites. "Our study provides a low-cost way to understand visitors to the top-20 Job Search web sites and it can give valuable competitive insights to other Job Search web site executives," according to MarketProfiles.net owner, Gene Hall.

Market Profiles surveyed a random sample of 1,704 Internet users about their past and planned visits to Job Search web sites. About two out of three Internet users have visited a Job Search web site.

Relatively few Internet users are aware of some Job Search web sites even with prompting. Awareness appears to be an issue for some big-name sites like careers.msn.com (11%) and careers.yahoo.com (16%). The highest awareness levels measured are for single-purpose job search sites like monster.com (75%), hotjobs.com (52%), jobsonline.com (49%), and headhunter.com (47%).

Job Search web site visitors responded in their own words to questions about . . .

- What they are looking for when deciding to use a Job Search web site, "That they don't send me ANY email at ALL, EVER! That they don't give out my contact info without asking me first, and that they do not EVER share my resume with other sites." and

- What features they would like that are not currently included in any Job Search web site that they know of, "Ability to be alerted when someone wants to view my resume, and have the option of allowing or disallowing it and letting me know why employers look at my resume but decide not to contact me."

According to those who have ever visited a Job Search web site, monster.com is the Job Search web site that they visit most frequently (52%) followed by jobsonline.com (27%) and hotjobs.com (19%). Top 2-box overall ratings (on a five-point scale) favored monster.com (53%) followed by hotjobs.com (32%) jobsonline.com (28%), and headhunter.com (26%).

Demographic and Internet usage profiles are available for visitors to the top 20 (according to these respondents) Job Search web sites. The survey also includes information about customer support contacts and preferences, past and future purchase amounts, unaided awareness, and awareness sources.
